Girl Scouts Book Club: Book #1

What’s better than curling up with a good book on a cold winter day? Talking about that book with your friends!

Why not start a Girl Scout book club with your troop or group? Or with other friends and family members? You can read one book each season, and then get together and share your favorite parts, characters, and scenes. Or set up time to IM each other your reactions as you all read along.

You could start with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, from the seven-book series The Chronicles of Narnia. Like the Harry Potter series, there’s a movie version in the works—it should be out in theaters in December. So challenge your club members to finish the book in time to see the movie!

And as you're reading, share your thoughts with other girls at Girls Only. Tell everyone who your favorite character is, which character you really dislike, and what scene you hope isn't cut from the movie. The questions will change every week or so, so check back often to share your take on the book.

And remember: Reading and talking about this book—or any other book your book club chooses—will count toward the Books Junior Girl Scout Badge. Depending on the book, who you read it with, and how you share your thoughts on it, you can also be earning credit toward the following Junior Girl Scout Badges:
